Our Purpose & What We Do

Our Purpose

The Orion Music Boosters is a non-profit group of volunteers whose purpose is to lend support, both financially and physically, to the band, choir, and drama departments at C.R. Hanna Elementary School, Orion Middle School, and Orion High School.

What We Do

We help by organizing volunteers to assist with:

  • The Marching Chargers half-time shows, competitions, and parades

  • High School and Middle School music contests, concerts, and trips

  • Uniform fittings for marching band, OCC, and drama productions

  • Concessions for plays and musicals (2 per school year)

  • Any activity the directors and/or students need assistance with

  • Special gate parking at Orion Charger home football games

  • Organize and assist with Marching Band Camp Cookout

  • Assist with organization of student trips

Fundraisers

  • Tanner's Orchard Cider Donuts

  • Special gate parking at Orion Charger home football games

  • Concessions during plays and musicals

Recent Expenses

  • Each school year, nearly $15,000 is allocated for our band, choir, and drama budgets

  • 80 new marching band uniforms (2021)

  • 21-foot cargo trailer (2018) used for marching band needs as well as choir and drama

  • End of year awards for Band and Choir (every year)

  • Sousaphone (2019)

  • Cleaning of marching band uniforms and choir robes (every year)

  • Light board for drama productions (2019)

  • Signage advertising special parking for OHS home football games (2019)

  • Student meals for competitions

  • Color Guard instructor services (still searching for sponsor)

  • Pit director for OHS Musical (every year)

  • Tech Director for Musical (every year)

  • Costume rentals for Musical (2020)

  • Virtual performances for graduation (2020)

  • Face masks that are conducive to wearing while playing an instrument (2020)

  • Rolling cards for marching band uniforms and drums

  • Decals for the exterior of the Orion Music Boosters cargo trailer

  • Decals for new shako hat boxes and rolling carts

  • Orion Music Boosters pay half of the cost of the Smith Walbridge Drum Major Camp (every year)

  • C.R. Hanna Music Play subscription (2024/2025)

  • Purchase of smoke machine (2024)
